Bruce James Friesenhahn, a resident of Bulverde, Texas, born on June 4, 1951 passed away peacefully with his family present shortly after Christmas following a sudden diagnosis and fight against cancer. Bruce was born in San Antonio and raised in Selma where his parents Rocky and Irena Friesenhahn still reside. He was the beloved husband of Lynn Friesenhahn for over 35 years and father to adopted son, Ryan Friesenhahn. His devoted siblings, Brenda, Rodney, Michelle, and Janice as well as his two grandsons, Justin and Mitchell, and granddaughter on the way, Maia will forever remember Bruce. Bruce was a member of an extremely large family whom all loved and cared for him. Bruces accomplishments and service included, graduation from South West Texas, proudly serving in the US Air Force as a pilot, Councilman and then Mayor of Converse, Texas, Alamo Dome Committee, Lions Club, and Construction Manager of Brooks City Base. He touched the lives of many people with his smile, generosity, and sense of humor and just overall great personality. He ALWAYS gave more than he received and never asked for anything of ANYONE that he wasnt willing to give himself. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Schertz Funeral Home, from 5:00PM until 9:00PM, with a Memorial Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM. The Memorial Mass will be 10:00AM on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 North Evans Road, Selma, Texas 78154. Interment will take place at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with United States Air Force Honors.
