Brigitte Fitzgerald

December 24, 1938 — January 9, 2015

Brigitte D FitzGerald, 76, of Universal City, Texas died on January 9, 2015 peacefully with her family by her side after a courageous 2 year battle with Sarcoma. She fought till the bitter end with grace, courage, dignity, and a lot of humor. Brigitte was born on Christmas Eve 1938 in Berlin, Germany during the war. She was a hairstylist for 15 years before coming to the United States with family friends, the DuFresne family. She met the love of her life, Bruce FitzGerald, in 1962. The couple was married in Africa in 1972. Brigitte found her greatest joy and blessing when they adopted Brian. Brian has always been the center of her life. Brigitte developed many lifelong friendships and countless memories in Universal City, Texas where she was a resident for 39 years. Another great source of joy came when she became a grandmother to Brian's son, Landon, who affectionately called her "Omi". Brigitte is survived by her beloved son, Brian FitzGerald, and her adoring grandson, Landon; her two brothers and sister-in-laws along with nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special, loyal friends whom she considered as daughters, April Chapman and Amy Warrington; along with her extended grandchildren: Benjamin, Colton, Cash and Hudson. She is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, her loving parents and one brother. The funeral will be held on Friday, January 23 at 4:00pm at Schertz Funeral Home.
