Brian Scott Glasgow January 29, 1964 - October 13, 2014 Chief Master Sergeant Brian Scott Glasgow, USAF Retired, passed into the arms of his beloved Lord on October 13, 2014 at Christus Sister Mary Hospice after battling colon cancer for 18 months. Born on January 29, 1964 in Strasburg, Ohio where he spent all his childhood. He was the third son of Robert E. Glasgow of Harrington, ME and Judy K Michener of Navarre, OH. On December 24, 1988 he married Fern Louellen Thieben in McCook, NE. Mr., Brian S. Glasgow is the Chief, Integrated Assignment Sustainment Section, Air Force Personnel Center, Randolph AFB, Texas. In his capacity he serves as a first level supervisor providing planning, directing, organizing, and program development support to military personnel data systems. He develops and tests systems requirement changes for existing procedures, develops new processes affecting all areas of assignments, represents the director on all system issues and exercises control over non-supervisory employees assigned to the Integrated Assignment Sustainment Section. Mr. Glasgow is a retired Chief Master Sergeant. He retired from active duty on 1 July 2011 after 27 years of service. Prior to his retirement from active duty he was the Superintendent, Airman Assignments and the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Directorate of Assignments, Air Force Personnel Center, Randolph AFB, Texas. His background includes various leadership positions at the unit, squadron, MAJCOM, and Headquarters Air Force Personnel Center to include deployments in support of Operation Desert Storm, Operation Southern Watch, and Kosovo Operations. His assignments include bases in Germany, Maine, Colorado, Florida and Texas. Major Military Awards and Decorations; Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf clusters, Air Force Achievement Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Air Force Recognition Ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism medal, Air and Space Campaign medal. Other Military Achievements: 1003 MSS Airman of the year 1989 45 MSS NCO of the Year, 1991 STEP Promoted to Technical Sergeant, 1994 USAFE SNCO of the Year, 1997 USAFE Personnel Manager of the Year, 1998 Air Force Personnel Manager of the Year, 2001 AFSOC SNCO of the Year, 2002 AFSOC Personnel Supt of the Year. Surviving are his beloved and very proud wife, the former Fern Louellen Thieben, whom he married December 24, 1988 and one very honored daughter Chelsea Glasgow. His mother Judy K Michener of Navarre, OH father Robert E. Glasgow of Harrington ME and Three brothers; Robert E Glasgow of Dover, OH; his wife Robin, Michael Glasgow of Navarre, OH; his wife Marianna , and Philip Glasgow of Navarre, OH; his wife Lisa. Preceded in death by: Grandfather John Ellis Glasgow and grandmother Zelma Glasgow of Strasburg, OH and Grandmother Meg Cozart of Strasburg, OH. His life was a pattern of faithfulness, to God, to his country, to his wife and daughter, and his family, but also everyone he met. His warmth and kindness knew no boundaries, and he embraced each day with love, hope, energy and laughter. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. A Graveside Service with full Military Honors will be held at 11:15AM on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to the American Cancer Society for Colon Cancer at www.cancer.org
