Brady Thompson

Brady Allan Thompson was born on June 17, 1947, in Verdunville, West Virginia to William C. & Marion M. (Ashcraft) Thompson. A Viewing will be held, Thursday, September 25, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held, Friday, September 26, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Schertz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. When Brady was a young child he and his family moved to San Antonio, Texas where Brady graduated from MacArthur High School in 1966. He subsequently joined the Army National Guard reserves and after finishing his basic training began attending San Antonio College. It was at this time that Brady took an interest in becoming a Police Officer. He worked part time for the Alamo Heights Police Department as a dispatcher and after getting certified as a Texas Peace Officer he worked for the Cities of Windcrest and Castle Hills. Brady married Michelle Hess in December of 1970 and the following year they had their daughter Jennifer. After starting his family Brady realized he needed to further his education where he went back to school at Southwest Texas State University. While working full time, he drove every night to San Marcos, Texas to finally receive his bachelors degree in Law Enforcement. After graduating from Southwest Texas, Brady piloted the first Law Enforcement program at Churchill High School for the Northeast Independent School District. Brady loved teaching and within a couple of years he was offered a position in 1977 at San Antonio College at the Alamo Area Law Enforcement Academy. Shortly thereafter he became the director and served in that position until September 09, 2008. Brady gave and dedicated over half of his life to educating and training others and he made countless friends both professional and personal along the way. He loved to ride motorcycles and be in the outdoors and he was especially proud of and loved his eight year old grandson, Will. Dad / Grandpa we had the time of our lives with you, we love you and you will be sorely missed. Brady you made a difference and touched many lives over the years.
