Bobby James Herring, 77, Cibolo, Texas, passed away suddenly surrounded by family on August 10, 2021. He was born in Royston, Georgia and raised in Anderson, South Carolina son of James Isom Herring (d) and Minnie Lois (Sisk) Herring, brother to Charles M. Herring (d), Geraldine Turpin and Brother-in-law Bobby Turpin (d), and half-brother to Brenda Toney (d), Bernice Jennings (d), and Ronald Herring (d) and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Married to E. Donna Smith Herring for over 56 years and blessed with three girls: Michele Elizabeth Powers married to Timothy Ray Powers with two sons Braden Mathew Herring Powers and Aaron Gregory Powers. Kathleen Anne Stiefel married to Christopher Thomas Stiefel (d) and grandsons Seeley Thomas Stiefel and Constantine James Stiefel; and Christie Lorraine Carter and grandchildren Gwendolyn Sway Carter and Keagan Wade Van Cleave. He served honorably in the Army for over 20 years, receiving numerous awards and is veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War. During his service, he was stationed at Panama, Canal Zone; Ft. Polk, LA; Ft. Leonard wood, MO; Schofield Barracks Army Base, Ft. Shafer, HI; Ft. Hood, TX; and Ft. Sill, OK. Still young, he served another 20 years for Haliburton Oil Field Services in Oklahoma. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Catholic Mass in his honor will be held Thursday August 19 th , 2021, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, Texas. He will be interred at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX at a later date.
