Billy Lee Timberlake was born May 8, 1941 in Commerce, Texas. Billy was one of four children, one sister Betty and two brothers Don and Ronnie born to Lester and Mabel Gray Timberlake. Billy died at his home in Schertz, on January 8, 2025. Billy and Anna Mary Cooper were married on April 4, 1969, in Ennis, Texas. Billy is preceded in death by his parents, and his three siblings. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, his two daughters, Ruby Hecox and husband Kevin of Schertz, Texas; Amy Jannot and husband Andrew of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; four grandchildren, Dr. Emily Hecox and husband Kenny Roller of Jackson, Mississippi; Dr. Holly Hecox and husband Jonathan Lang of Marion, Texas; Ethan Jannot and Wyatt Jannot of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and one great-granddaughter to arrive in May.
Billy graduated from Commerce High School in 1959, received his Bachelor's Degree from East Texas State University in 1963, and received his Master’s degree in 1970 from North Texas State University.
Billy began teaching high school in 1966 and then moved to teaching at Angelo State University, and later became a professor at San Antonio College in 1973. Billy’s career in education spanned nearly four decades. While teaching at San Antonio College, Billy was named District Business Teacher of the Year and was also named Texas Business Teacher of the Year.
Billy will be remembered as a kind and generous man, a wonderful husband, and a loving father and grandfather. Billy loved God and his church. He served in many capacities in his 50 years at Schertz United Methodist Church. He particularly enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching children and adult Sunday school classes, and serving as president of Schertz United Methodist Men.
Billy’s greatest joys were his family, his church, and his profession. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
