Billy Simmons

Billy John Simmons, loving brother and father, passed away after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at the age of 67 in his home in San Antonio, TX.

Billy was born on October 17, 1952 in Caracas, Venezuela to William and Clara Zimmer (Simmons). He was graduated from Victoria High in 1970, after which he served in the US Army. He worked for several years as a paramedic in Victoria, and finally retired from the UTSA Fire & Safety Dept in San Antonio, Texas.

Billy had a passion for classic rock, history, camping, rock collecting, and jewelry making. He spent many hours in his workshop grinding down stones into beautiful necklaces and earrings, and enjoyed many camping trips with his family searching for the next rock. He had a great sense of humor, and never met a stranger.

Billy was preceded in death by his father, William Zimmer; mother and stepfather, Clara and Ted Jefferson, and brother-in-law Jerry Cotton. He is survived by his three children, Aubrey Jeanneret. Amanda Guillory, and Katie Simmons; grandchildren, Morgan, Jordan, Logan and Evelyn; sister, Shirley Simmons Cotton; nieces, Amy Cotton Seibert, and Julie Cotton.

A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
