Billy Clark

Billy Joe Clark was born June 22, 1937 in Gastonia, NC to Forrest Clark and Lena Paysour Clark and passed into eternal rest on April 18, 2017. On April 20,1954, he entered military service with the United States Army Reserve. In 1955, he transferred to the United States Air Force from which he retired from on April 1, 1976 with the rank of Master Sergeant. During his time of service he was stationed at various posts around the world to include Wheelus AB, Tripoli, Libya; Grenier Field, Manchester, NH; Tan Son Nhut AB, Saigon, Republic of Vietnam; Keesler AFB, Biloxi MS; Bitburg AB, Bitburg, West Germany, and Randolph AFB, Universal City, TX.

On July 11, 1964 he married Anita Jean Preston. During their marriage they gave birth to two sons; Dana Jay Clark and Erick Joseph Clark. Billy also has a son from a previous marriage; Billy Keith McMakin. Upon retirement from Randolph AFB, they settled down in Schertz and then to the Marion countryside in 1999. Billy was an active member of the Alamo Classic Chevy Club, the Schertz Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, and the Randolph Opportunity Association for the Disabled (R.O.A.D.) Foundation. His past and present hobbies included softball, golf, bowling, fishing, HAM radios, and computers. Billy was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Howard, Gary "Bud", Harvey, and Randy, and sisters Peggy, Colleen, Mildred, and June. He is survived by his wife Anita, sons Billy Keith McMakin (wife Rita), son Dana Jay Clark (wife Tammy), son Erick Joseph Clark, sister Linda Clark Rhyne, grandchildren Garret Keith McMakin, Alyssa Hope Clark, Anna Kate McMakin, and Dwight Preston Clark, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 F.M. 3009, Schertz, TX 78154, with services to follow at 7:00 pm.

Interment services will be Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 10:15 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the R.O.A.D. Foundation P.O. Box 150. Schertz, TX 78154 or the charity of their choice.
