Billie Evelyn Pearce McLain believed the greatest mission in life was to Love God and Love Others, and she did just that. Billie was born on August 8, 1923 to Hazel Pearl Hupp and Drue Pearce, in Bray, Oklahoma. She grew up in Bray and then lived in Marlow and Bethany Oklahoma, and eventually moved to Cibolo, Texas to be near some of her grandchildren.
She retired from the State of Oklahoma Motor Vehicle Department, and after retiring worked at The Children's Center in Bethany, Oklahoma. She loved to travel, and some of her favorite memories were of trips to Seattle and Washington DC. She had an excellent memory and loved to play games with her grandchildren. She taught them that "it's better to laugh than cry."
The greatest sunshine in her life was her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. The example she lived, and lessons she taught will live on in the lives of her family.
She leaves behind her daughter, Patricia Cockrell, and her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren: Kim, Willie, Gavin and Garrett, Scott, Tara, Daniel, Archer, Elleana and Christian Phoenix, Ashlee, Jaxon, and Kyler, Madisyn, cousins, and friends who considered her to be family.
The common theme we've heard as we have shared with family and friends about her passing has been, "Billie always helped me..." followed by a story of what a difference she made in their lives. She was loved by many, and her smile and hugs will be greatly missed.
She lived a long life, and leaves a beautiful legacy.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Billie's memory to The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital in Bethany Oklahoma at https://www.miracleshappenhere.org/ways-to-give/donate/
