On Thursday, October 11, 2018, Billie Jean Hall, wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away at the age of 87, surrounded by her children. Billie was fondly known as the Goat by her family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Giles W. Hall; six siblings, Chester Hunt, Macie Scarborough, Grace Robertson, Colonel Jim Hunt, Lloyd Hunt, and Sammy Hunt. Billie is survived by her four children, Jay Hall and his wife Linda, Janaa Chrystal and her husband Tom Chrystal, Jill Hall and Julie Wilson and her husband Allan; four grandchildren, Hunter Hall, Beau Hall, Caitlin Bristow and husband, Trent, Colten Chrystal; great grandson, Jack Bristow and five siblings, Inez Wade, John Hunt, Sue Leverette , Joe Hunt and Gwen Hunt Verma. S pecial thanks to her care team Eva, Lucy, Mary, Juanita, Andrea, Doris, Delinda, and CIMA hospice.
Billie was the sixth of twelve children born to Herman Ross and Nora Belle Hunt in Brachfield , Texas on March 30, 1931. Upon graduation from Henderson High School in 1949, Billie enrolled in the Parkland School for Nursing. After graduation, she was an ER nurse in the Parkland Hospital Emergency Room. In 1955, she was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. While stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB in Arizona, Billie met the love of her life, Giles Wade Hall, a native of West ‘By God' Virginia. Billie and Giles were married on December 17, 1956. Visitation will be on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Schertz Funeral Home, in Schertz. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Schertz Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11: 30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Jay Hall, Hunter Hall, Beau Hall, Tom Chrystal, Colten Chrystal and Allan Wilson. Rev. Don Bailey will officiate the ceremony with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Billie's life.
