Bertha Gleitz

August 18, 1908 — February 20, 2009

Bertha V. Gleitz was born August 16, 1908 to Armin & Emelie (Albrecht) Stautzenberger in Selma, Texas. She went to her heavenly home on February 20, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 100. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Walter F. Gleitz; son, Vincent Gleitz and daughter, Jeannine Phillips. She is survived by her sons, Melford Gleitz & wife, Fran and Thomas Gleitz & wife, Lynda; daughters, Bernadette Whitney & husband, Fr. Joseph, Sister Catherine Gleitz and Sister Therese Gleitz; sister Dula Ackerman; a very special family friend, Father Peter Higgins; fourteen grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Bertha was a true example of devotion and faith within the Catholic Church. She was one of the original members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma. We will miss our dear mother and grandmother who brought so much joy and blessing to our lives. A Rosary will be Recited at 7:00 PM on Monday, February 23, 2009 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in San Antonio, 700 Dewhurst, San Antonio, Texas 78213. A Mass will be Celebrated at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, Texas with Monsignor Michael OGorman as the Celebrant. The Interment will follow in Selma Catholic Cemetery #1.
