Delbert (Del) David USAF MSGT Ret. was called home to our Heavenly Father on April, 16, 2018 at the age of 79.
Del is survived by his beloved wife, Elva Herrmann David, his children, Carmelita Solis (Jerry), Danita Hayes (Wally), Stacy David, Duane David (Sandra), Amparo Payne (Craig), Joe David (Oksana), 16 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Art David and Larry Stone, and one sister Carmelita Abbott.
Del was born on November 24, 1938 in Alma, MI. He joined the Air Force in 1954 and served proudly for 22 years. He served as a Combat Medic, Jet Engine Technician, Television Engineer, and Recruiter. Del served his country in Vietnam in 67-68. He joined the Texas State Guard in April 1990 and retired as a Major in 2008 with 50 years and 8 months of Military Service. While serving in the Air Force he earned a Bachelor's Degree from Wayland Baptist College in 1976. Del was self-employed for 20 years.
Del enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, gun-fighting re-enactment, writing western novels, playing his guitar and singing in his band Klassic Kountry Gold. He also loved serving his community as a member of SERTOMA Club, Lions Club, American Legion, and the VFW. Del will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00am on Tuesday, April 24 at Friedens United Church of Christ, Seguin, TX. The Rev. Dave Phillips will officiate. Graveside Services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, May 8 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers donations are requested to be made in Del's memory to Friedens United Church of Christ, 2555 Friedens Church, Seguin, Texas 78155.
