Barbara (Copeland) Untiedt was born on September 14, 1950 to Edgar and Aletha (Monson) Copeland in Clarinda, Iowa. She departed this earthly world on June 2, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 67 years surrounded by her husband, son, daughter, brother, daughter-in-law and sister-in-law. Barbara was raised on the family farm near Blanchard, Iowa. She attended Elementary and High School at South Page College Springs, Iowa. Barbara attended college at Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda, Iowa for two years and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in May 1972 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. On July 1, 1972 she married William (Bill) Untiedt. She taught school in Bethany Missouri for one year. In 1973 she joined her husband on their 22 year career with the United States Air Force. Barbara worked in various career fields throughout her life time and retired from the Contracting Squadron, Randolph AFB as GS-12. She was an avid San Antonio Spurs fan, NCIS watcher and reader, but her greatest joy and pleasure were her 2 children and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and numerous other relatives. Cherishing her memory are her husband; son, Matthew and wife Chasisty of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Megan and husband Matthew Mungia of Seal Beach, California; grandchildren, Alexia and Matilda Untiedt, Diego, Emiliana and Miguel Mungia; brother, Jim Copeland and wife Bobbie of Clarinda, Iowa. Visitation will be on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM and the Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:00AM. Both will be held in the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel, 2217 FM 3009 Schertz, Texas. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 9:45AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. Memorial contributions can be made to Mended Little Hearts, Inc., 8150 N. Central Expressway Dallas, Texas 75206 in Memory of Barbara Untiedt and in honor of her heart warrior Grandson.
