She followed her now deceased parents, Glynn and Jeanne Bennett, to Schertz, TX in 1963 where she met and married her wonderful, loving husband SMSgt Lou Quates who she is now with once again. She and Lou loved to square dance and enjoyed many great friendships as members of the Randolph Area Flying Squares and Camping Squares with whom they loved to travel. Barb and Lou travel in their RV, going to Alaska twice, Canada, New Foundland and throughout the U.S. Like her mother, she had a deep compassion for those in need and was a charter member of the local area RACAP, serving as Vice President one year. She had many crafty friends as a member of the Designing Angels for 20 years. She is survived by daughters Lisa Quates and partner Mary Andrews; Sarah Burton and husband Sonny and granddaughter Crystal Burton; sister Carol Neville and husband Richard Neville; their children Rick, Jan, Therese, Catherine, Patty, their spouses and children. She has 3 surviving step-children, Bruce Quates and son TJ; Ron Quates, wife Debbie and children Danny and Stephanie; Brenda Davis, husband Mike and children Leslie, Tracy and Lee (deceased), and long time, devoted friend Stanley Bullard. Her devoted dog Skipper and grandpups Samantha and Madison will also miss her very much. Her family offers a special thanks to the staff and owner of Camelot Place who gave mom so much love and care in her final days. The family also thanks Alamo Hospice for their compassionate care. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 6, 2012, at Schertz Funeral Home, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Schertz Funeral Home, at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
