Armando S. Jimenez, Jr., a retired Cibolo police officer, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, June 9, 2019. Mando fought a tough battle but passed away peacefully a day after his 70th birthday.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Amancio & Antonio S. Jimenez, Sr.; brother, Ricky Jimenez; and sister, Nina Saunders. He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Jason and Valerie Austin; his youngest brother, Mario S. Jimenez, Sr.; nieces (and their spouses), Tammy & Dino Guadiana, Lisa & Lupe Perez, Jr, and Amanda R. Jimenez; nephew (and spouse), Mario S. Jimenez, Jr. and Vanessa Gonzales; aunt, Pauline Fernandez from Houston, TX; 12 great-nieces and nephews; 1 great-great niece; 1 great-great nephew; and many other close family and friends.
Armando, better known to friends as Mando, and to family as Chacho, was born in San Antonio, TX on June 8, 1949. He graduated from Sam Houston High School, attended Palo Alto College, and received his Law Enforcement certification through the Alamo Community Colleges Police Academy. He served as a peace officer for a total of 33 years but spent 22 of his career years with Cibolo PD as a Senior Patrolman, Warrant Officer, and Municipal Court Bailiff. Cibolo is where he hung his heart and finally retired in 2011. He was the first officer with the longest tenure and to retire with more than 20 years.
Family welcomes all friends and family to come for Visitation which will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Monday, June 17th beginning at 6pm, with a Rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 18th at St. Benedict's Catholic Church at 10am, with a procession to follow to Meadowlawn Memorial Park, where he will be laid to rest.
