Antonio Rangel, Sr.

Antonio “Bear” Rangel Sr, 82 of Schertz, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, with family by his side.  He was born on April 21, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Gilbert and Josefa Rangel. Antonio graduated from South San Antonio High School in 1957 before enlisting for the United States Marine Corps.  During his 20 years of service, Antonio earned a Rifle Expert Badge, Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, Good Conduct Medal – 3 ^rd Award, Vietnam Service Medal w/2*9*, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/(1960-), Vietnam Staff Medal – Navy Commendation, Vietnam Honor Medal 2 ^nd Class, National Defense Service Medal,  Navy Achievement Medal, Puc – Car – Joint Service Medal, Silver Star and Purple Heart w/2 Gold.  After being Honorable Discharged.  Antonio began his 25 year career with the United States Postal Service. More than anything, Antonio loved to spend quality time with his wife, children and grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Josefa Rangel; brothers, Theodore Rangel and Gilbert Rangel Jr.; sister, Dina Almanza.  He is survived by his loving wife Sanae Rangel; daughters, Rosita Rangel and Dahlia Rangel with husband Ronnie Flores; sons, Miguel Antonio Rangel and Antonio Rangel Jr.; Grandchildren, Sophia Rangel, Daniel Rangel, Dylan Hileman, Maegon Flores, Brandon Hileman and Justin Flores; brother: Nievas Rangel; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Betty Rangel, wife of Gilbert Rangel, Jr. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM,  at the Schertz Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow beginning at 7:00 PM.
