Angel Sanchez, Jr, 79 years old, passed away peacefully at home in Cibolo, Texas surrounded by family on November 14, 2022, after a long struggle with cancer.
He was born on October 2, 1943, in Caldwell, Texas, son of Angel Sanchez, Sr and Epifania (Mendez) Sanchez.
After high school Angel joined the Marine Corps Reserves and was stationed in Austin. This is where he met and married his wife Virginia Gutierrez of 54 years. In 1972 he went active duty in The Marine Corps and spent 20 more years serving his country.
After retiring from the Marine Corps, Angel ran successful cleaning business for 20 years.
He was an avid runner and an adored his family. He spent countless years coaching both his daughter’s softball teams while they were growing up. He also spent several years coaching his grandson’s (Gregory) peewee football team.
He had a strong passion for participating in the Marnie Corps annual Toys for Tots drive.
Angel leaves behind a loving wife Virginia G Sanchez, daughters Cynthia (Troy) Roberson and Gina (Greg) Delgado along with two grandchildren Gregory Angel Delgado and Ava Madison Delgado and five grand dogs Jezebel Elizabeth, Jack Alle, Titan, Athena Rose, and Winston. Sisters, Connie (Paul) Gamez, Sandi (John) Rando, Mary (Ike) Ramiez, Felise Velasquez. Brothers, Rick (Joan) Sanchez and Danny (Donna) Sanchez. Sister-in-law Herta Sanchez and Brother-in-law Carlos Chavarria
Angel is preceded in death by his parents- Angel and Epifania Sanchez, his brother Tony Sanchez and sister Margaret Chavarria
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Angel’s name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Visitation will be held from 5:00PM - 8:00PM, with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM, on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will take place at 11:30AM on Thursday, December 01, 2022 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church of Selma, Texas. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
