Andrew Zintel, Jr.

Andrew W. Zintel, Jr, age 75 of Schertz, TX/Madison, WI passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018. He was born on May 20, 1943 in Teaneck, NJ, the son of Clara and Andrew Zintel, Sr.
Andy graduated from Florida State University in 1965. He served in the Peace Corps in Panama from 1965-1968. In 1969 he married Joanne Anthony and they moved to Madison, WI. He received his Masters degree from UW-Madison and in 1970 he began his 33 year vocation as an exceptional Spanish Teacher at West High School in Madison. He loved his students and he loved teaching about Latin American culture. In 2000, he received the prestigious Kohl's Award for his excellence in teaching. He retired in 2003 with his wife, Joanne, and thus began 14 years of living full time in a 40' RV. He loved traveling and meeting new people. Each year he spent 6 months in WI, camp hosting in county and state parks, and 6 months in Texas enjoying the warm weather and activities. He loved dancing, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Andy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be so missed.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother and brother, Albert Kuehnapfel. Andy is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Joanne Zintel; son, Kristian Zintel and wife, Janet (Hilt) Zintel; daughter, Heather Zintel; grandchildren, Marissa and Arik Zintel; daughter-in-law parents, Susan and Rich Hilt; sister-in-law, Lola Kuehnapfel; many nieces and nephews; and granddogs, Olie, Pixel, and Macey.
A Celebration of Andy's life will be held at 9:30AM on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at San Fernando Cathedral, 115 West Main Plaza, San Antonio, Texas 78205.
