Andrew Montoya passed away at the age of 93 in Live Oak, Texas on July 30, 2022.
Andrew was born in Seboyeta, New Mexico to Andres Alvin Montoya and Doloritas Gonzales. He was one of six children. He served in the United States Army in Korea where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal for Japan. After serving in the military he worked for the United States Postal Service and went to Draughon’s Business college where he met his wife Verda Marie Montoya. They wed in Odessa, Texas and raised a family in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Andrew was frequently known for being the one behind the camera documenting every event. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on cars, and numerous electronic gadgets.
He retired from a distinguished career in the United States Postal Service as the Postmaster of San Antonio, Texas with 47 years of service.
Andrew is survived by his three children, Robert Dean Montoya, Mark Alvin Montoya, daughter Sandra Lynn Montoya-Boswell and husband Steven Boswell, his grandson Andrew Yoder, and his sister Joan Elizabeth Hetrick. He was preceded in death by his wife Verda Marie Montoya.
A service will be held at Triumphant Lutheran Church in Garden Ridge, Texas on August 8th at 5:00 PM followed by a graveside service at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Pottsville, Texas the following day at noon.
