It is with great sadness the family of Amanda Slack Murray announces her passing. Born on April 25, 1980, to TSgt. Thomas C. Slack, Jr. and Lindsay Slack, most of her life was spent in the San Antonio area where she attended school, church, and college. She received her Masters in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington where she met her husband and best friend, Jeffrey Murray. Married in December 2008, they had a marriage that was loving and enduring. They loved traveling to Europe, New Mexico, and Arizona.
Amanda worked in Dallas and San Antonio where she was a dedicated architect and planner. She was a beautiful person, inside and out, and she was a kind, compassionate, and caring person who always put others first. She often made creative gifts for friends and family with a twist of humor that was uniquely hers. Amanda loved to cook and bake, making beautiful cakes for birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries. Amanda enjoyed cuddling and playing with her two cats, Kiko and Maudie, who she loved very much.
She leaves behind her loving husband and caregiver, Jeff; her mother, Lindsay Davis; sister, Susan Dolgener (Kevin); step-brother, Sherman Davis, Jr. (Tracy); mother and father-in-law, Bobby and Linda Murray of Arlington; sister-in-law, Julie Dubois; nieces Brandie Davis-Hubbs, Brooklyn Grobe, Gabby Dubois, and Sara Vise; nephews Christian Gonzales, J.T. Dolgener, Brandon Miller, and Adam Vise.
Preceding her in death were her father, Tommy Slack, step-father, Lt. Col Sherman E. Davis, sister, Kristen Ann Slack, and brother-in-law, Tim Dubois.
We will celebrate Amanda's life at a funeral Mass at 11:30am on Wednesday, June 19, at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Schertz with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery afterward.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson and Texas Oncology, the nurses and chaplains at Gentiva Hospice, Father Octavio at Good Shepherd Church, Father Jorge at Our Lady of Grace Church, her dearest friend, Molly Cundari, who visited her many times and hosted her last birthday party, and all those who prayed for her and sent her good wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any breast cancer charity, Texas Oncology, or to MD Anderson Hospital in her name. Masses are also greatly appreciated.
