Alfred Contreras

April 28, 1970 — June 28, 2021

Alfred Anthony Contreras, born on April 28, 1970 in Washington, D.C., was the son of Victorina and Alfredo Contreras (“Fred”). On June 28, 2021, Alfred was called upon by the Lord. He was the older of two sons, with his brother Jason being the younger of the two. Alfred grew up in Schertz, Texas, where he graduated in 1988 from Samuel Clemens High School. He continued to pursue his education and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Clemson University. Alfred enjoyed helping others and in this manner was a social worker that provided advice and counseling to at-risk parents with newborn children. As a dutiful and loyal son, Alfred also helped his parents with the family business, Contreras Flowers & Gifts, doing everything he could to help, such as delivering flowers and assisting customers with ordering flowers. Many customers would tell his mother, Vicki, how good of a son he was to his parents. Alfred was a good brother too, helping his younger brother Jason however he could through life’s difficulties. He was also very kind to animals and brought home several rescue dogs that became beloved members of the Contreras family, including a miniature poodle named Elvis, a border collie named Mary Pat, and two basset hounds both named Davis. In his father Fred’s declining years, Alfred provided his father with loving caregiving assistance and comfort. His mother Vicki and brother Jason are profoundly grateful for that and will never forget Alfred’s selfless act of service to his father in his time of need. Alfred was a dedicated and loyal son and brother and was deeply loved. He will be forever remembered in the hearts and minds of his family and friends. Alfred was preceded in death by his father, Fred Contreras, and is survived by his mother, Victorina Contreras, and brother, Jason Contreras. A celebration of Alfred’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1065 East Live Oak Road, Schertz, Texas 78154. A burial service will follow at San Marcos cemetery, where he will be laid to rest.
