Albert Mireles, Jr.

January 26, 1982 — November 27, 2016

Albert Richard Mireles, Jr. passed away on November 27, 2016 at the age of 34 of cardiac arrest. He was a 2000 graduate of Samuel Clemens High School in Schertz, Texas. As a youth Richard played Pop Warner football and BVYA little league baseball and basketball. In high school he played basketball under Jimmy Jowers who not only instilled in Richard a love and passion for the game, but also in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Richard carried those passions with him throughout his life. He loved playing sports, but his talent didn't extend as far as his love. So beyond playing, his love of sports extended to four specific teams: North Carolina Tar Heels, San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Reds and the San Antonio Spurs. Richard had a certain level of intolerance for the Dallas Mavericks, the Lakers and the St. Louis Cardinals...but that's okay. Richard had a heart of gold and was extremely accepting of those he trusted and loved in spite of any flaws they might have had. He had an intense loyalty to friends and family. Richard is survived by his loving parents: Albert Richard Mireles, Sr. and Donna Mireles Halmess; brother: Edward Joseph Jonas and Kevin Andrew Jonas; sister: Jennifer (Jenny) Mireles Morillon & husband, Edgar. In addition to his immediate family, other survivors include paternal grandmother: Alyce Samuels Mireles; uncles: Earnest Mireles & wife Sonia, Eugenio Mireles Jr. & wife, Tencha, Tommy Mireles, Charles (Chuck) Halmess & wife Judy; aunts: Christina Natal & husband Adalberto, Diana Onstott & husband Scott, Deanna Williams & husband Dan, and Jody Peal & husband Nolan. Richard was also survived by numerous cousins, and friends with a special mention are Andy, Daylon and Christian who were always by his side. Richard was currently in a very happy and loving relationship with the love of his life, Anna Marie Banda. Preceding him in death were maternal grandmother Frankie Halmess; paternal grandfather Eugenio (Gene) Mireles, Sr., and his beloved rescued cat, Pepper. The memory of Richard's loving heart and spirit will forever live in the hearts and minds of the many people who loved him dearly. A Visitation will be held from 4:00PM-8:00PM on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Schertz Funeral Home, with a Rosary being recited at 5:30PM.
