Adelhaid Friesenhahn

Adelhaid Emma Friesenhahn was born at home on May 18, 1921, to Emil and Frances (Scheel) Biering, and went peacefully to her heavenly home on June 13, 2013, at the age of 92. She attended Culebra School, a one-room elementary school, and then went to live with an uncle and aunt in Alice, TX where she attended high school. While there, she also worked on their farm doing various chores including picking cotton and milking cows. After high school she moved back to San Antonio where she attended Draughons Business College. In the summer of 1942 she went to California to visit her fianc, Edmund Frank Friesenhahn, and they decided to get married before he shipped off to the Pacific Theatre of World War II. They found a catholic church in Watsonville, CA and had a priest marry them on June 30th. Adelhaid retired from the San Antonio Savings Association and enjoyed traveling to many places including a trip to Germany. Her family was always first and foremost in her life. She always remarked that she was the richest woman in the world because of the love of her family. Her husband, Edmund Frank Friesenhahn, and her parents, Emil and Frances Biering, preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Janet Stanzione and her husband, James (Jimmy), Larry Friesenhahn and his wife, Virginia (Ginger), Yvonne Johnson and her husband, Clifton, Garrett Friesenhahn and his wife, Debra; grandchildren, Darren Stanzione and his wife, Kimberly, Jeffrey Stanzione and his wife, Sheila, Yvette Stanzione, Shelly Taylor and her husband, Michael, Gregory Friesenhahn and his wife, Christine, Kimberlee Schott and her husband, Roy, Jennifer Maxfeldt and her husband, Brian, Ashley Vineyard, Eric Friesenhahn and his wife, Casey, Ryan Friesenhahn and his wife, Aimee; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Hunter, and Logan Taylor, Brett, Bailee, Courtney and Morgan Stanzione, Reagan and Tucker (Max) Friesenhahn, Victoria, Alexandra, and Carolina Schott, Blake, Blayne, Brandt and Brylie Maxfeldt, Seth, Avery, Cash, Jack and Sean Friesenhahn; sisters, Leonora Luersen, and Irene Connor; brother, Marlin Biering. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Schertz Funeral Home, from 5:00PM " 7:00PM, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00PM. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, June 17, 2013, at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 2829 Ackerman Road, San Antonio (Kirby), Texas, 78219, at 11:00AM, Father Jose Francisco Puente officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
