SMSgt. A. D. Stephenson Jr., USAF (Ret) , age 88, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018, in San Antonio. He was born February 12, 1930 in Big Spring, Texas. A.D. served in The United States Air Force, retiring at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He served honorably for 21 years in 16 different countries. A.D. was a special education teacher for Pleasanton Independent School District for 16 years following his retirement from the Air Force. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His favorite past times were solving brain teasers, watching westerns and playing Bingo. A special thanks to the medical team at Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital who worked faithfully to support his life in his last days.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Bettie; father Arville D. Stephenson; mother Florence and sister Bonita Roe. A.D. is survived by his daughter , Deborah Stephenson; son, Kirk Stephenson and wife Cindy; beloved, long-time companion Bessie Moore; grandchildren: Dr. Garrett Peel and wife Mandie, John Blake Peel and wife Vanessa, Kellyn Wilks and husband Keith, Cybill Stephenson, Derek Stephenson, Jovi Stephenson and Maizy Stephenson; great-grandchildren: Travis Farias, Blythe Peel, Emsley Peel, Urban Wilks, Blakellyn Peel, Banner Wilks, Preston Peel, Parker Peel, Ryker Peel, Emrys Peel and Rhea Peel.
A Graveside Service will be held on July 20th, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Pavilion #3.
