Michelle "Mickey” Marie Brietzke of New Braunfels, Texas went home to our Lord and her Momma on October 12, 2022, at the young age of 59. Micky was born on November 6, 1962, to her parents Constance Sanders and Raymond Brietzke in San Antonio, Texas. For 59 years she battled cerebral palsy and over-coming the stigma around her disability. Absolutely headstrong growing up, she made it a point to prove to everyone that she would never let cerebral palsy be her identity. She graduated from MacArthur High School in 1981 after passing the mainstream courses and went off to study at Texas Women’s University (TWU) where she graduated in 1985 with honors. Mickey was recognized as the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges for her outstanding merit and accomplishments as a student at TWU. She worked alongside March of Dimes and The Shriners throughout her life.
Mickey is survived by her siblings, Tate “Suzy” Simmons, Roblyn Mabry, Johnny and Donna Bierschwale, Raymond Jr and Cliceria Brietzke, Sharon and Charles Armentrout, Kathy Feldman, Raymond “Eddie” and Patricia Brietzke, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She will be forever remembered by her fiancé, James West. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Brietzke Sr, Constance “Connie” Sanders, and her brother Westly Brietzke.
Mickey will be dearly missed, and she will always be remembered for the beautiful moments we had with her. She will forever be in our hearts.
We want to give a very special thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for letting our beloved Mickey “police the place.” We thank you for the amazing care and love you showed her during her 6 years there. Thank you to Hope Hospice for making her comfortable and happy.
